Buyer Beware. This tripod has a maximum height of only 40 inches and although the product is titled as a "Professional 40" Tripod", the product description mentions it as a 53" tripod and clearly states that it has a maximum height of 53 inches. Having said that my purchase criteria was to find a tripod that was extremely light (because if you don't want to carry it your less likely to use it) and one that had a fairly small footprint. This tripod will be used at audience/auditorium type events such as graduations, weddings or the children's plays or concert/dance recitals. I wanted a tripod that could fit next to or in front of my seat, typically on the aisle and where it wouldn't be intrusive to the surrounding guests. That makes this appear to the perfect tripod because it's smaller size and lighter weight make it ideal for these occasions. I have tired of trying to use my video camera to record these entire events and welcome the in aisle filming relief. Also of note is that today's smaller camcorders can exaggerate any hand movement so the improved quality of steadier recording along with the tilt and panning capabilities make this a great purchase. Although I have a much bigger tripod that's been put away in a closet, I wish I had thought of buying one of this size much sooner.
